Junction boxes needed for LED strip lights

I recently bought a new place and the previous owner took the fluorescent strip lights that were in the garage with him. I am wanting to install LED strip lights like the one in the picture, there were no junction boxes used with the fluorescent lights that were there just a 14-2 wire coming out of the ceiling, I am thinking I should be able to do the same with the LED's? I did install one like this last night and it seemed fine, all the connections are in the fixture and easily accessible.
Thanks,
John

Hi, I am not an electrician but I think if the connections are inside the fixture there would be no need for another box. Ed Will. Oliver BC

It is ok to Junction in the fixture like you did. Just make sure to use a romex connector where the wires go into the fixture. Do you like the LED fixture so far?

Thanks for the replies, so far I like it, seems to put out a lot of nice light. I probably wouldn't have spent the money on them, but I work as a machinist and the just replaced our old lights at the shop with LED's and the light is just awesome! Obviously those are industrial fixtures, but I think it will be pretty nice in the garage as well.

I've been retired for many years, and I did very little work with romex.
If I remember right because of the heat rating of the ballast in the fixture the code does not allow romex to go into a fluorescent fixture.

I recently got a 4ft LED shop light from Costco. When I put it up, I noticed that it has an outlet at the opposite end from the cord. You can supposedly connect several in line.

I've been replacing mine with LEDs as the ballast/tubes go bad. Remove ballast and direct 110v wiring, use the same lamp fixtures.

EBay, case of 24 $120 including shipping, 4000k color, G13 style tube holders.

You do not need Jbox with modern Romex if not a lot of heat, strip back the outer shell, clamp it at the entrance to the fixture.

I bought my fixtures at Menards, when I was looking into them it seemed all the home improvement places have something similar. Also amazon and Costco were mentioned frequently.
