Any 10-inch gas chainsaws?

I'd like to get a 10-inch gas chainsaw (not battery or electric) but have found very few in a brief internet search. A dealer in the UK has one, but it's not a brand I've heard of. Do you know of others out there? If not, what's your recommendation for a 12-inch gas saw? Thanks.

i have a stihl ms 170 with a 12 inch bar, its a great little saw for limbing. had to order the bar, the saw comes with a 14 inch bar.

Rossow--is there any reason you're looking at a 10" saw? Moving up to 12" or 14" will open up your possibilities considerably without sacrificing much if anything in terms of size or weight. Echo makes a good small saw that I think you'd be satisfied with, though like most companies they make a range of quality levels from homeowner to professional use and you're wise to step up a bit beyond the base models to get more power and better longevity if it's something you plan on using very much. If it's not, many people have went to using cordless Sawzalls for light, occasional trimming, and that's also something to consider.

I have several other saws, including a balky 12", five or six 14", a 16", an 18" and three 20". I probably don't need a 10", I just like the ancient 10" one my father-in-law has because it's so handy for trim work. I'll probably have to settle for a better-starting 12" than the one I have.

LOL! Guess you're a bit beyond the Sawzall stage, Rossow, though it's a handy tool for a few cuts on short notice. Years ago a neighbor had a little John Deere saw that was probably a 10" or, at most, a 12", and used it extensively for brush clearing and firewood cutting around his camp, which was set on a steep, heavily overgrown hill by a lake, making it difficult to use a larger saw.

Simple, Purchase a small 35-40cc saw of your choice. Then go to Baileys and order a 10" bar and chain for it.

Or do it the other way; like I did in 1980 at Sears. Buy the 10" and then the 16" bar and chain when the little one dies. The Sears guy told me that was the way to save about a $100 and he was right.

Get an Echo top handle chainsaw with a 12" bar. I have had two of them and they are great little saws with good weight to horse power ratio.

I had a Remington with a 10 inch bar, actually ran a lot of wood through it. Dad had a mcullith 20 inch, about the size and weight of a boat motor, got tuckered out just starting hat think.

He would fell them, I would limb them up, and he could finish with the big pieces. Worked well.

I don't suppose they are still around.

The top handle chainsaws with 12" bar are great pruning or cleaning up tops of trees after they are on the ground. Easier to use in working up tops and a 12" bar will cut pieces up to 16"diameter with ease.

I have an old Homelite saw with a 10 inch bar. Got it free at a yard sale, after some tinkering it runs and cuts like a champ. Handy little devil for trimming up.

We have a pair of small STIHL chain saws with 12 inch bars. Perfect for woods road work and small use. One usually lives on the tractor and the other in the truck.
