High pressure pressure drop

I have a 2000# electric pressure washer. I want to wash the steel roof on my 55'x88' barn, before I paint it. How much hose can I add to the washer before it becomes ineffective ?

Thanks,
Dusty

Pressure drop is a function of velocity of the fluid in the hose in relation to the cross section of the hose times the length.
Saying that, since you are only moving a few gpm I don't believe it would be noticeable unless you are talking about using 200 feet or more; if you have decent sized hose.

I should have stated it's the high pressure hose I'm talking about. I don't know what diameter they are. I don't think you have a choice in diameters, only length.

Here is a friction loss chart. Depends on gpm and size of hose.

Power washers generally come from the factory with 25 foot, 1/4 inch ID hoses. 50 foot extension hoses are typically 3/8 inch. Adding a single 50 foot extension to your original hose shouldn't significantly affect the pressure and should be plenty long for your purpose. (That's what I use.) If you need to go longer, ditch the 1/4 inch hose and use only 3/8 inch hoses.

Just a thought before you buy a bunch of hose you will probably only use once.
I had 7 outbuildings to paint on a property we owned years ago.
Hired a guy that had an industrial mobile washing unit on a trailer.

What he accomplished for a few hundred dollars in an afternoon would have taken me a week and I could not have done as nice a job.
