Buying an Equipment trailer

Can you buy equipment trailers at the factory and save money ? I know you can a very good deal buying enclosed car trailers at factory. I could have saved $1,800 buying it in Georgia instead of having it shipped to Maine. thanks
 
Bought 2 trailers from Hooper in GA. Saved a bunch of money on both. Shopped around and they beat everybody.

Detro trailers on Indiana is a volume dealer. There prices were competitive.

If I recall my 14k was around $3k.

I saved driving 200 miles to buy a 10k dump at Elkhart, In.

When I was shopping around for an implement trailer, some out of state trailer only had brakes on one axle.
 
Most manufacturers won't sell direct because they need to protect their distributors. Would you want to sell a company's product if you knew your customers could just go to the factory and buy it cheaper? I just spent a lot of time on-line and on the phone shopping for a new trailer. Ended up buying one from D R Trailer in Milan, MI.
 

When I was shopping, a local dealer was going to give me a deal if I went and picked it up along with a couple others for his stock.
 
I found that after I added up the cost per mile and my time lost to go get it I was farther ahead to just buy it from dealer.
 
I found mine on Ebay back in 2006, built by a small company 25 miles south of here. I saved a lot of money and the company kept his workers busy all winter.
 
Yes you can, I bought mine at the State fair in 2000, picked it up at the factory saved close to 2thousand bucks.
 
What will your transportation costs be for a 2000 to 2500 mile round trip? Add in the cost of your time, plus motel costs and maybe extra sales tax when you try to register the trailer in your home state. I don't think $1,800 will cover your costs. I would look for a manufacturer much closer to home.
 
I bought new trailer from dealer and freight was only $225.00 from Texas to Morris,ILL. I couldn't go get it for that.
