Got this at a sale. Dont know what it is, just different. Gilmer name on it. Pat. 2-13-12

I believe it to be a thickness gage for checking the thickness of lumber. the piece between the handles should have numbers on it if I'm correct.
 
That's what I'm thinking. We used to have something similar to grab a bull's nose.
 
I dont know guys, if it were a bull nose grip, wouldnt it lock in the closed position? This tools center handle rachets and locks in the open position.
 
There's a ratchet on it, looks like just a pivot. Might be something along the lines of a snap ring pliers. you see the link I posted before, it has a picture of the patent sketch that looks almost just like it.
