Found a bad bearing support and a couple bearing keeper bad too.
It's suposed to be slotted like the lower half, but had gotten worn out. The slotted parts are just 2 pieces of angle welded to the bottom of the tube, so all I had to do was cut the old angle off and fab a new one and weld it on.
I started woth a piece of 5/16 angle that I had to cut down to size. A good band saw is really with it dor jobs like that.
Once it was cut to size I torch cut the slot and drilled the 3/8 hole for the bearing keeper.
Turned out ok when done.
Then had to fab up a couple bearing retainers. Doesn't seem like much holding those bearings on, but thats what was on there so it must work.
I'll be putting it all together tomorrow and if it don't rain I'll take it out and give it a try. There is still more work to be done on the lift as someone tried to beef it up but it needs to be redone.
