Our Lincoln Navigator was leaking water from the front windshield--so I covered the leaking area with the DAP 100% Silicone. Took a stone to the window and they came out to replace. They couldn't wouldn't replace the window with the DAP on there. I have removed most of it but there is still a film of the DAP. ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO REMOVE THAT FILM. Tried gas, PB Blaster etc. Thank you. I use this vehicle on the farm also as it is 4x4 and lots of room in the back.....

They make erasers to chuck in a drill to remove the double sided tape residue. Might be what you need ? body shop supply shops have them.

Easiest solution would be to find a better glass company. Silicone caulk should be a daily occurrence to a glass company.

I agree with mike m, eraser wheel on a drill. Then follow up with a wax and grease remover.. Your windshield is glued in with a urethane adhesive. It is a structural component. Also if you scratch thru any paint, get a primer on it before they set the winshield. Rust will develope under the glass, crack the winshield and rust thru into the interior. We fix a lot of that from poor glass installation.

Hmm... are you maybe leaving out a few details?

The windshield guys shouldn't be concerned about silicone on the GLASS. They're replacing it, after all. So they must be concerned about silicone residue inside the rubber seal. Probably the urethane adhesive they use won't stick to silicone. Sure, you can remove it from the windshield glass and get another outfit to replace the windshield, but what about the silicone you can't get to?

Might have to just have them replace the seal around the windshield; that is probably the only way they can stop the leak anyway.

I agree with the auto body eraser decal tool . I got one by accident in a lot of tools . That thing will get the silicone right out of there. { I would also try a different windshield place as this sounds ridiculus for a glass place to say.}
