68 Ford 4000 row crop hydraulics level

I had an oil leak on my front loader and need to check the hydraulic oil level, but have been unable to find the check plug. This 68 Ford 4000 row crop has an 8 speed manual transmission with the high foot plate and the brake lock mounted from what I believe to be the pump mount. This plate does have the square plug on the right side, that one picture on a 4600, which was pointed to as the level check. Is this the proper check point? As for filling, there is a neck with a twist cap sticking out of the lower right side of the bracket on which the seat mounts. Any help would be appreciated! Clif

On my 3000 there is a square head pipe plug about 1/2 way down on the right side of the rear end. Looks just like the one in the transmission and on the same side.

3 cyl 4000 had a check plug on the right side.. small square plug near right heel.. on hydraulic pump.. See picture of this on ford forum.

Removing wrong bolt can drop a shift fork, so be sure you know what your doing.

owners manual will show pictures of all check points and well worth the money. A row crop will have some differences in controls and power steering due to being a platform, high crop tractor. But much else is identical. get a repop owners manual off ebay.
