My old monitor died. Setting up the new one

My old monitor was starting to have color issues. Some times the color contrast would jump all over the place. If you bumped the desk it would change colors. I was looking at monitors to buy when the wife saw me looking. She asked me want the heck I was going to buy a monitor for???? Well the old one was acting up. She gave me the "Dumb" husband stare. LOL Welllll She switched to a lap top several years ago. She had a older tower computer but a NEW monitor. Less than a month old. I even had boxed it up and stored it in the upstairs bedroom. I had totally forgot we had it. LOL

Now my issue. This monitor is much larger than my old one. The display is appearing too large. I would like to make the font/size stay the same as it was on the old monitor. This way I would not have to scroll around to see the complete lines or pictures so much. On the XP system you could right click and chose the size you wanted things to be. The good old 100%, 120% etc. choice. This darn 8.1 system does not have that option. Or I should say I can't find it even with searching the system. I can find where to change the size of the titles and icons but not the viewing size other than the pixel choices.

JD Seller,

Trying holding down your Ctrl button and then roll the scroll button on your mouse to increase or decrease your view size. (This is the quickest and easiest method... works on web pages or on documents you may be working on.)

Or if Chrome is your browser, click on the 3 horizontal lines at upper right corner of screen (just below the X for closing the window), and use the Zoom feature to decrease/increase the size.

Otherwise on Windows 7 go to:
-Control Panel
-Appearance and Personalization
-Display
-Select the default setting of 100% (otherwise you can have the issue you are speaking of - where you need to move side-to-side to read the information)

JD Larry at the corner said you might be looking for a gas tank for a Case VAC if so I have 2 of them

May not be the problem, but try some electrical contact cleaner on the plug on your old monitor. I have seen more than one that that issue was just dust on the contacts. Like I say, may be other issues, but worth a shot if you like the old one. Once you go to a laptop or a flat screen you will probably never go back. Wife and I have out own and often sit across from one another using - actually that is happening now.

Old the VAC I bought last spring has a leak in the fuel system. It will only hold a gallon or two and then it leaks. I have not had the time to check anything out on it. It maybe simple but sure looks like the tank leaking when peaking under the sheet metal. If I need a tank I will be sure to give you a call.

I think Sweetfeet has it.

I feel for you.

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a new desktop computer from Best Buy with Windows 10. I don't know which I hated the most, Windows 10 or that computer. In the process of setting it up, it destroyed two printers. I couldn't believe a brand new HP computer would not be compatible with a 6 month old HP printer. I took it back during Best Buy's 15 day return period and ordered a new Lenovo unit with Windows 7 Pro online. It came Monday and worked beautifully--until yesterday morning when IE quit working. Things went south from there. I talked with their Customer Service this morning and they're shipping a replacement unit today.

I'm down to using my laptop and a lame printer. I talked to HP and apparently they're not going to do anything about the printer. I think I'll buy a new printer of a brand other than HP and send HP's CEO the bill.
