I put a rebuild kit in my old weed eater. Walbro has a gauge to set the height of the metering lever to the casting but they don't give the dimension. Anyone know what it should be?

sometimes, after getting frustrated just trying to reinstall that little spring --((( you know the one that is there one second and the next is gone??))) I go to ebay and order one from outside the US for not much more than the rebuild kit cost buying inside the US. Three of those little springs setting up housekeeping on my shop floor -- somewhere.

Well, if you don't bend the metering lever, it will be pretty close.

An old timer told me that if you lay the diaphragm (And gasket if it goes below the diaphragm) over the carb. body, then when the diaphragm is flat the rivet should just barely touch the metering lever.

p.s.: If you have a carb. that runs but really needs a little more fuel and it is not adjusable, try raising the lever a tiny bit.

I quit rebuilding them. Last time I rebuilt the one on my Huskvarna the kit was $15. The next time I went to partstree and ordered the complete carb for $22.

I can never find my exact model carb; probably because all my small engines are 25+ years old. I would much rather buy a new carb, old ones will have crud deposits waaay back in the casting that I may or may not be able to remove.

The basic carb for a 30cc engine is going to be the same, it's the way the throttle cable attaches that causes the complications. I'd need to make new brackets to get the cable to the other side of the carb for example.

Dale--I have installed hundreds of those tiny springs and discovered years ago that if you simply put a dab of petroleum jelly on the end of spring, it will stick in the cavity.
