6:50x16 tractor tires

Looking for a couple 6:50x16 6 ply LT tube type tires for front of my 3400 Ford. The thread is like summer truck tires. Am I better off to get bias or radial. Right now don't have much clearage between tire and front axle. Thanks

I would go with the bias ply for thicker sidewalls.

You can also go up in ply and load range to get a thicker tire, more thorn resistance, like the 10 ply load range E.

I your wheels are in good condition, why not go with tubeless? That way they can be plugged.

I picked up a pair of LT215 85 16 Load Range E tires from a local tire shop. I was trying to replace 750 16, so these are a little small, but should work on your application. The part I like is these are mounted tubless and I can keep a plug tool and plugs and save dismounting all the time. Picked them up for free, and so far good.

Steve if you don't have much sidewall clearance I doubt if a radial tire will work, They bulge too much all the way around on the sidewall. I don't know if you have an old established tire shop in your area, if you do stop in -- they can still be ordered. At least 2 of my old suppliers show them in stock. More than likely your rims are old enough they will not hold air mounted tubeless, but wont hurt to give it a try.

TO: hd6gtom,
Thanks, I was wondering about width. I have decided to check with local tire deals on 6:50x16 6 ply bias. thanks again
Steve
