Jet electric hoist

My chain hoist has burned out points in the commentator.
They want $300 for a new one (points are non replaceable).

Lots of wires in there, can this be wired without the points?

I'm assuming the contacts are for the motor start circuit, the centrifugal switch that connects the start cap when starting. Doesn't really matter, whatever contacts are there need to be there, and it won't work without them.

If there is an electric motor repair shop near you, they may be able to match up something that will work if the motor is not exclusive to that manufacturer.

Otherwise, just have to weigh the cost of the part verses replacing the hoist. I've had decent success with low cost hoists. Seems the manufactures have to build a level of quality into them for liability purposes.
