In 2011 I had my N14 overhauled at cummins, when I went to pick it up They gave me the generator a 5000 new in the box. Well its 2016 still in the garage off the floor in the box. Should I
open it up and service it or should I just leave it alone?

I would at least turn the motor over to lube the cylinder walls.

Sometimes setting not being used is harder on things than them being used some.

That's strange ? They must of felt real guilty of how much they dinged you for the overhaul ?

If you have not need it by now may as well sell it on craigslist as NEW in BOX.

The model is P5450e don't see the serial number on the box. The new model 5500 had just come out. Just wondering if I should take it out and treat it with something or would it be treated that way from the factory?
I think I got a good deal I paid $9500 for a now 2 rebuild plus some extras. The truck had 1,080,000 and ran great just couldn't keep oil in it for the cam follower gaskets. It ran worse after the rebuild, but got the bugs worked out under the warranty.

That is a Kawasaki or Kubota generator. Onan has sold units made by both companies in the past. Should come dry from the factory. Rebranded as an Onan. Also Known as EGMBE. I would check the oil add some gas and crank it up.Model and serial number tag will be on the frame below the gen section.
