The other day, it was raining and I invented something to do. I took the old Li cells from two laptop batteries. The cells were good, the charging system inside the battery went south. I had a heck of a time getting them to fit inside an old Li battery case.

I used it yesterday to drill holes in metal. It was like the Every ready bunny. It kept going and going. I use a .5 amp aftermarket charger for Li batteries. Put it in a metal container when charging, incase battery catches on fire, no internal battery charger protection. No signs of a warm battery when charging.

I'm thinking the laptop batteries I used were rated at 5800 ma hours. Cells were a bear to pack inside case. Only investment was my time.

Surprised the heck out of me as to how well it worked. Have a fire extinguisher in shop. Only charger when I'm there.

Hello Geo-Th In,

I too have been busy, I have started a new project. 3 X 20 amp 4 volt packs in series for a total of 12V. Check my post below. I may add a couple of capacitors to the set. I also charge ONLY when I am in the garage. Charging at 1/2 c Is safe for most single cell lithium battery charging is series. When in parallel all bets are off! My second pack is at 3.8 volts and still charging. May take a few more hours at 2 amp hours. I may use the lab power supply to kick it up. You got a good set of cells. Don't get them hot, and they will Last a long time..........
