Free , easy to download ; takes ten minutes tops , keeps your contacts list and has everything you need to keep track of your e mails .
It has no hidden snags or traps and works as well as it says it does .
Windows ten is a crock ! don't even try to buy their upgraded e mail package , it's a crock as well , just costs more !

we just got a new computer with windows 10--don't care for it, but that's what you get. our son-in-law is a computer geek and installed mozilla firebird and it works great.

I'm not doing 10, windows 7 will be the end of the road for me. When I can no longer get it I will quit computers altogether. That is if I make it that far. With all these places increasing security I may quit anyway. It's more aggravation than it's worth.

I have a laptop running 7 and a newer all-in-one desktop running 10. Use Google Chrome and Gmail on both. Works for me.

If you're on the latest Mozilla you might run into problems via Flash.

Apparently this latest version will recognise HTML 5. So look in add-ons and put Flash on "ask to use" and then ignore it.

If that works you can likely axe it entirely, as it seems to be flagged as bug ridden

+1 for Thunderbird..easy to setup for1 or multiple accounts, and easy to send emails. Thunderbird is what Outlook should be. Mozilla is a small company that makes very good easy to use software, a concept that is lost on MS.

I use Outlook and have never has a problem. But I use Microsoft Office 2007 and outlook is part of it. Simple to set up and use. I also use 10 and have no issues with it either. I do use "classic shell" to make it look like windows 7. It's a free download.

I have found it to be much easier and more straight foward to just go to my internet providers homepage and log into my email account from there.

Someone in the news has been having email "problems" too ;) I havent switched to 10, still wondering about it yet.

As others have elated to.. there are a lot of changes out there in security related to flash, ssh, and other things going on that have created problems for ALL computers. Lots of mail and web sites still running the older versions that the newer browsers dont like and vice versa. This has NOTHING to do with windows 10 and everything to do with security updates. Then you add in a ad blocker software and you really have problems with web sites locking up and doing strange things.

Google software has always tracked your viewing so that they can push ads to you and make money. Windows 10 can also track you for the same reasons, but that can easily be turned off. If you turn it off, window 10 is better than window 7 and really really better than windows 8. And if you dont turn it off, it will NOT be the end of the world, as almost all web sites are pushing ads to fund and make money. Tracking just means if you look at tractors, you will get tractor related ads pushed to you. My problem is that I go out to buy a pair of shoes, and then I see shoe ads for the next week. But I already bought the shoes the first time. So I simply turn off "tracking" and cortana. Funny the people who complain the most about tracking are the ones who run google programs.

I've been using Thunderbird for years. It has never failed.

On a side note I've been saving all my emails in Tbird for all those years too. I found where the programs stores them and back up the whole folder to an external hard drive. When I format and reinstall windows or move to a new computer, I can reinstall Tbird and then delete the new folder and paste in the saved one. It even adds my old settings, servers, passwords and such, so I don't have to redo them.

I have Earthlink works like a charm with Windows 10 of course I pay for Earthlink but as they say you get what you pay for and don't get what you don't pay for.

For T-Bird backup i use Mozbackup which does pretty much the same as pasting in the folder as you describe.
