Speaking of trailer brakes

I didn't want to jump into the below, but have a weird one at work. Deck over 2 axle, 14k down rated to 10k, trailer about 2 years old and has been pretty much trouble free. However, a guy at the shop drug the light cable (quite the plastic down drastically, but no write showing) and that might be part of my problem. The problem is that only the front left wheel seems to have skidded in a couple of places as it goes tread, no tread, tread, no tread. But only the front left wheel. Would this be a wiring issue or a sticking brake or????

Related to tractors in that i can borrow the trailer to tow my tractor. :)

Thanks.

To add to the possible problems with that trailer, any chance the bad tire got swapped on there from another trailer when someone had a flat?

These are original tires from the factory. We use the trailer for making local deliveries and I am in charge of all maintenance, so nothing snuck by my eagle eye.

Well if that is the only brake that works then that could be the reason for it. One of those things where you almost have to jack the trailer up and spin each tire by hand and have some one apply the brakes an see what happens. On many trailers the brake magnets are grounded to the frame at each place on the axle and over the years that ground gets bad and then you have brakes the do not work. I like to tie all the ground to one wire and ground it to the frame but also run a wire to a ground on the trailer plug that goes to the truck

Check your wires, I'll bet the power comes down the left side of the trailer and that is the first wheel in the system with each going further down from there. I'll also bet the right rear has the worst braking. I've sometimes traded the right rear and left front brakes when the left front shows a lot of wear but the others will still go fora while. The solution is to run the wire to the middle of the axles and run each wheel from there so all the wires are the same length.
