Gloves........

I suppose many of you have noticed that the price of work gloves has gone way up in the last 2-3 years. What is your opinion of the new "Mechanic's Gloves" that have gone way, way up in price; it seems like a fad. I have seen "Mechanic's Gloves" priced as high as $25 a pair. I have a couple pair that are light weight and comfortable but doubt they will stand up to heavy use.

The best buy on gloves right now is the Well Lamont leather gloves with a double palm, available at Costco for $20 for 3 pair. All the other types of gloves in the stores are higher priced, even though they don't seem to be anywhere near as durable as the Wells Lamont leather from Costco.

i like the kinco leather driver gloves. also have a couple pairs of caterpillar lined work gloves for the winter, and i buy a sleeve of the fuzzy yellow chore gloves that i keep in the truck. i have a pair or two of the mechanix gloves, but dont care much for em. i take a blood thinner so i have to be careful of cuts. the fuzzy yellow gloves are nice but they catch fire pretty quick !! btw, i wish you could buy just a glove for one hand, cause i seem to always loose one glove. generally its when you get a new pair.

Not mechanic gloves but leather work gloves for like building fence at Fastenal $1.98 best deal I have seen for awhile

TSC brown jersey work gloves. Six something a doz. when on sale. Wear inside my mittens in the winter.
I walk out the door with a pair in my pocket. Keep a pair in all my winter coats, on the tractors, in the barn, workshop, and where ever I may need them. There is usually a pair laying around when needed if not a pair in my pocket.

I use these too. I'm in NJ and that must be why I bought them. grin Keep them in my pockets and all over the place too. Here is the problem I run into. How do five right gloves end up in the same pile???

I don't know how anybody can work on equipment, engines, transmissions, or any other mechanical contraption with gloves on. They take away too much of your tactile sensations and are clumsy in general. Kind of like trying to pick your nose while wearing boxing gloves.
In my opinion, working on machinery and wearing gloves is a good way to lose a finger or two. Maybe even a hand if you aren't careful.

I know.. I have 5 lefts in my pile LOL
I use Jersy gloves too. The only problem is that I need XXL and they are hard to find sometimes.
