Mexican 22 ammo

Just read a news story about The Mexican ammo company Aguila. They have been ramping up 22 ammo production to try and meet the huge demand from the USA. People must be careful when buying it because of the different types they make. One type that I have been using for years because it is fun is their Colibri brand. This is readily available and some people have bought it and complain that it will not cycle a semi auto. It has a 20 grain lead bullet with no powder. The bullet is propelled by the ELEY primer only . It will NOT cycle any semiauto. I shoot it out of a Savage model 72 single shot rolling block rifle. Very accurate and deadly on rabbits and pocket gophers out to about 30 yards. They also make a 29 grain 22 short, a 40 grain 22 LR high vel HP called Super Extra and a 30 grain 22 LR Hyper Vel they call Super Maximum. I have not had a single issue with these long rifle rounds and work very well out of my 1022 and Mossburg Plinkster. The Super Extra is what I bought in MO on our trip. The Hyper velocity I bought a few years ago and wish I had bought more. It is a screamer!

I have shot Aguila in the past and it is good ammunition. You have to read the boxes for bullet weight and velocity. They make a ton of different types. Much more so than the other US manufacturers. The Aquila sub sonic is really quiet even with out a suppressor, but it will not function in a semi-auto. I don't really care. For pest control it is the best with out pissing off the the neighbors. Besides is should be one "One shot, one kill." anyway.
