Williams tools?

There's a pretty big estate online auction near me. Went with Grandpa today to check out some things he was interested in. I found a whole bunch of hand tools, all older, and most say Williams? I'd never heard of it before. Anybody know anything about them? There's a whole bunch of assorted tool lots (with some Snap on here and there) all still at a starting bid of $5. Anyway, would these be a decent tool that would last a while? Worth a few bucks?

YES ! They are good tools. Buy them and the Snap-on ones too. For that money, I would buy them even if I don't need them.

Williams was recently bought by Snap on and many of the tools are made on the same line,or so I have been told. Anyway, Williams are still good tools.

I bought a Williams 1/2" drive combo set in about 1960. I have not seen it in a coupla 10 years. thanks for reminding me. I think I put it away so people would get an of them out to not get back. I need to look around while I still can. I used them all 18 years I worked at plastic machine repair and some after I started my own factory in 1976. I took them home and put them up some time in the 1990's. Very good tools.

The Harry Epstein Tool company (Google it), near Kansas City, still sells some Williams tools.

very good stuff...buy them all.
I have a small assortment of old Williams tools in my toolbox from yardsales.
Wish I could fill the whole box with them.
Most telling, is that with a lot of quality brands in there, I reach for the Williams first when I have a choice of wrench in the drawer.

As others have said, they are very good tools.
You used to see them as 'in house' tools at factories, power plants, water works, etc. The maintenance guys would have their own tools but the house would have a set too.
I got lucky at a big machine shop auction a few years ago and bought a whole set of them. Lot of duplicates. I'm missing the small ones > 5/8" but have the rest up to 1 1/2".
If you don't lose them they will last a couple of lifetimes.
