Garden Hose

Hi All,

I am in need of a new garden hose, and could use some advice picking one out.

The last hose I bought a few years back was junk and wasn't worth a darn. I have another old hose, that is about 18 years old, but has gotten too short from me cutting and splicing out leaking spots. But this old hose was great, 18 years outside summer and winter didn't kill it; I can't find any name on it or I would buy another.

Anyways, what is a good brand of hose today? I don't care if it costs a little extra, I just want a good hose. It is often said, and I will repeat, you never regret buying a good tool.

Thanks,
Tim in Mass

We have bought a couple of Flexogen hoses from Amazon and they have been very good for the past few years. They don't kink like the cheaper hoses and they seem to hold up from working all summer, though e do put them away in the winter with the water drained out.

I buy Yardworks 3/4" 75' from Menards. My oldest one is probably about 6 years old and I leave it out all summer, haven't had issues. I have 5 of them around now. I have a longer 5/8", but I don't know the brand, I only use it for filling a water tank when I turn a couple cows in to clean the yard.

Always used to use rubber type in the milk barn, but they didn't last that long in there.

Apex NeverKink. Lowes has them. Get the good one with the metal ends. (I have to endorse those since one of our customers at work is Apex. We store millions of rolls of hose and raw materials for them. They are a top recycler of plastics, and the hoses are American made,)

Our hardware store has hose on a roll. They have red goodyear "heater hose" in both 5/8 and 3/4. If I was buying a hose today I would go buy a bunch of that and a couple of ends and make one.

Otherwise, I have bough decent hose at Sam's club and still have those. One is basically just the red heater hose.

The last garden hose I purchased was from our local Ace Hardware store. I remember the label on it said that it was a lifetime warranty hose.

Hmm. I have a 3/4 inch APEX hose that's three years old and in bad shape. I also have a ten year old Swan 3/4 inch hose that's in great shape. Which I could find another Swan.

Craftsman black hose--lifetime guarantee no questions asked just cut the ends off carry them into Sears and get a new hose. How does it get any better?????

I agree with the Craftsman rubber hose; great hose however, the hose proved too heavy for me to drag around particularly the 100 footer. Gave mine to sons, purchased the apec antikink from Lowes.

I have not seen it yet but HF is selling a hose for a good price. 100ft 3/4 for 32.98

Hello thynes,

Life time guaranteed! Keep the receipt....

(quoted from post at 08:08:02 06/11/16) I guess they list them online, they are also made in the USA. They cost more, but for general use, I'm spoiled by 3/4", noticeable difference from 5/8".

Home Depot is over 100 miles away, Lowes is at least 120 miles, if there's one in that town, have never looked.

People mentioning warranties, I waited to read the label on this one, it is lifetime too. It says you need to keep the receipt, but just take it into a Menards for a replacement.

I've had the heavy rubber hoses before in the milk barn, but not Sears brand. Never found any hose that held up in there more than a few months. But, that was 20 years ago. Sears Hometown is 70 miles away, looks like they only stock one size and type of hose (they didn't have much of anything last time I was in there). But it is the black hose. I don't doubt it's good, I just prefer 3/4". The black rubber would be heavy in that size.

Craftsman black rubber hose. Have had mine for 23 years no leeks yet plus its a lifetime warentee on it just dont cut the ends off or it voids it. I would compair them to the goodyear made hoses

Craftsman black hoses here. Ill never use another brand! Ive personally taken two back for free replacements. One was a hose my parents bought before I was born, it had just worn out. They let me keep the old one since I was sortve attached to it but I didnt have to cut the ends off, which were replacement ends anyway.
