George, in the discussion a couple weeks ago about migs, you pointed out the difference between the 140 and 190 Hobart Migs....power, lead length.

Decided you were right, bought the 190.

Had some work to do that I didn't trust my skill with a stick welder, this is working great, makes me look like I know what I'm doing. And with the 10ft leads I can weld on top of my round baler no sweat.

I can see my stick welder not getting near the work it used to.

Tractor Supply had them for $729, so I bought it Friday, then got an email from them, 15% off everything tonight from 6-9, max $100 off. So I took my receipt in and got $100 back. Sweet.

That $100 paid for the 50ft 10GA extension cord I made for it.

Thanks

Fred

If the need comes up to weld aluminum you can use a spool gun on that machine as well. It does a good job on any thing 3/8's and below to about 16 gage. If you preheat it does pretty well on 1/2 inch.

Yeah, was another reason to get this one.

Nice to know I could get the spool gun if I wanted.

Not had that much call to weld aluminum, but you never know...

Well gee..Glad to know the advice was used. I was using mine at the bench after I wrote that post and contemplated that even the 10 ft lead was none too long. You'll get to like that welder. I have a HF welder cart that works slick. The one that has the drawers and welder sits about 3ft up. Nice rig, well worth the price, and often is is on sale or use the 20% coupon. In the end, you really did not spend a lot more $$ to get what is a real step up on this tool.

No I didn't spend a lot more, especially after Tractor supply adjusted the sale price to reflect their 3 hour sale on Monday.

And I know myself well enough...had I bought the smaller one, I'd have been wishing I'd bought the bigger one before too long

I'm using the cart my old 120v welder sat on, fits it good, might add a couple braces to the front as this welder is heavier and the sides of the cart are just a big sideways U shape.

Be good

Fred
