Has anyone figured iut the need/use for one of these?

I saw this abomination at the Sears store a while back, and could not figure out a use for it, then was "lucky" to get one for Christmas.

STILL don't know what it might be good for, but had to break the package open the other day to "borrow" a hex bit I didn't have handy.

The way the damned thing was sealed up I used a bench grinder to melt it open.

We used to see cartoons about stupid/useless Harbor Freight tools, now it looks to me like Sears has taken the same path???

Or am I wrong and this is a SWELL/useful tool?

You must not use tools very much to have never needed a screwdriver you could put more torque on. And again someone that doesn't use tools wouldn't know the majority of harbor freight tools are just as good as name brand.

T-lug wrench
hubcap pryer-off'r end pushed into a Ford tractor rear brake drum screw.
other end pushed hard into my stomach.
lean in hard.
twist the T
out they come.
I guess I should have patent'd it. :D

I coulda used one of those screwdrivers years back when I badly broke my right thumb.
(girlie man left hand.....got much stronger over the next year of lefty only stuff)

Does anyone have to think very hard about why Sears is all but out of business? They would have been savable 20 years ago IF they would have hired 10 gear heads to head up the tool dept but since they kept the women and men that never held a tool in their hands prior to being employed by Sears as tool experts the fate of the Craftsman name was written in stone,, sad story indeed. If not for their real estate holdings nobody under the age of 25 would remember what a Sears store was. Pokes at HF are partially deserved but I have to hand it to the guy. There are places in my life for low end tool products and he by-passes the layers of cost. Why pay 2X HF price for thinly disguised China quality at Sears, Lowes or HomeDepot or numerous other places??

I would likely use that a couple of times a week at least. Think I will get one. Seems I run into a lot of screws that need persuasion and if you can't put enough oomph into the driver you just strip the screw head.

Harbor Freight tools as good as the name brand tools? Only someone who has never used tools on a professional level would believe that.

Instead of keeping up their fine line of tools Sears started marketing gimmicky crap and let the rest go to pot. A square shank screwdriver paired with a small cresent or open end wrench will apply plenty torque, and they are good for every day use as well.

If that was aimed at me you should reread my
post. I didn't say they were as good as
professional quality or even say they were
good quality at all. I said they are as good
as other Chinese tools sold with big names
on them and that there was a place for them
in my work. And that would be tools that get
used seldomly. My everyday tools are Proto,
Mack, Williams and SK thank you. I made my
living with tools for 45 years.
If it wasn't aimed at me, apologies offered.

Sears deserves every bit to get flamed, I hated to walk into the automotive or appliances dept. and try to buy something without getting jerked around and got fed up with that 20 years ago. But they're now probably just trying to survive the flood of Chinese products like everyone else. They actually do have an American-made tool line Craftsman Industrial and also sell one called Max Axess. Would love to get a SAE only set of those. I grew up on Craftsman tools and rarely broke one.

I have busted a lot of craftsman sockets, ratchets, and wrenchs, and i will continue to buy them when they have what i want or need because they never hassle me when i need to exchange them on warranty. last week i took my coffee can full of busted up stuff in, the gal behind the counter apologized for not knowing much about tools but took them all and said i will get them all on order for you and drop shipped to your house. She called me to tell me she was done and the following week i got everything i gave her. No questions, hassles or anything. Enough for me to stay with them when i can. they are also always sending me emails about sales and coupons, and some have some real value to to them.

I have a lot of craftsman tools and like them, the good ones, not the junk they sold to try to compete with japan, Taiwan and china. I also have a few buckets full of those cheap tools to be broken, lost stolen, whatever, you hardly miss them.

I bought my first Craftsman tools in 1969. Still have and use them. Have purchased more USA made Craftsman tools over the years and now
have quite a collection. I don't wrench everyday but use my tools frequently. I can count on one hand the number of tools returned to Sears for
replacement. I don't believe in abusing tools or using the wrong tool for the wrong job. I also refuse to purchase Chinese made Craftsman tools.
My purchases of USA made Craftsman tools these days are through EBay, yard sales, pawn shops and Craigslist.

Second-hand is how I get my better quality tools. My favorite 4/8 drive flex ratchet is a Craftsman. Very smooth, almost nonexistent back drag. Too bad Sears seems doomed to implode.

saw one of those in Sears the other day  needed a 12" adjustable they were the only guys open, picked it up and read on the package it was tested to 2,600 RPM,s  I don't know about you all but I can barely do 5RPM,s around a bat with my forehead stuck to it  To Sears defense the wrench I picked up was a 12" slip jaw self adjusting and it was 1/2 price! I only needed it for an 1-1/2" nut and it did the job and did not break even with a 30" cheater attached. Worth the price 8)
