Lookout app?

Went to phone store where I bought a new Samsung Galawy JI Verizon prepaid smart phone. The girl working in the dept has been there for 15 years knows everything about smart phones and is always been a very big help. Two thumbs for the way she helps people.

That said, I asked her what is the best locator app that I can use if I lose my phone in a field? She said there are many. OK, what app do you use? Lookout. She installed the free version of Lookout on my phone. Remember, I'm cheap and why spend money if you don't have too.

The upside to Lookout is also scans for viruses.

Has anyone used Lookout? if so what do you think? Is it a good tool?

i still have an old flip phone. swmbo and dottir have them i phone things. all they do is dilly dalley around on em. i would kinda like some type of look out thing so when i pull a glennster.....somebody yells LOOKOUT!!!!! would save me a trip to the ER!!!

Glennster, I like you could use the lookout app. Several trips to the ER with blood squirting out and stitches needed. If only someone or something would have shouted LOOK OUT.

I had a locator app off verizon on my old phone. I think this one is neater and it has a virus program too. I didn't know anything about virus programs for phones, but the lady at walmart said our smart phones can be attacked, because we can get in the internet. I didn't know that, did you?

The locator is pretty cool! I found it already installed on my AT&T Samsung phone but I had to activate it (free though) and then log into the lookout.com site on my laptop. Seems to work very well. Thank you for the tip!

You are welcome. Now if you have a second smart phone, friend or family, install it
there too. Then you don't need a laptop, you can use another phone to locate yours.

I think the 60 seconds screaming mode is way better than calling your lost phone and
getting a couple rings before it goes to voicemail.

Thanks really needs to go to Amy, girl at Wal-mart. She is extremely helpful. Perhaps
the reason I go there for cheap smart phones.

Another tip at wal-mart. Buy a new smart phone, pay $12 for a 2 year extended
warranty. I cracked the front of my last phone. Waited to send it in for a full
refund. Verizon prepaid now gives me more data, 3G if I bought a new phone and go auto
pay via credit card, which I've always done. So I sent my cracked phone in, got full
refund. Bought a better phone on sale for less than my last phone, paid another $12
for anothe 2 years. Win/Win. $45/mo, unlimited, talk, text, pics and 3G. More than I
need.

Dropped landline I had since 77, even dropped isp. For less money I carry around
everything in my Top Bib pocket.

Cell phone and security are two words that don't go together. They are easier to break into than a computer.
If you read the permissions on any of the apps, you'll find that there isn't one available that isn't spyware, and they all can add and delete contact info and alter anything saved to your memory card.
