Compression...

Yep, tricked you into opening this! LOL Where else but on a tractor page could I get an answer to this, so here goes!

My wife was just told by her Dr. that she needs to start wearing "thigh high compression stockings"! These are tools right?

Anyway, we bought a cheap pair off Ebay just to check for fit and durability. They fit good, but have not held up well. Part of the reason, she doesn't have a "donner" to help get them on.

Anyone had any experience? This is all new to me!

I'm seeing a wide range of prices on the stockings, are the more expensive ones any better?

And there are a lot of different designs of the stocking donners. I can't really see how they work, but was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for what type to try.

Thanks!

Steve@Advance- I looked them up and saw a image of how to put them on. My question is....If you have to use that to put the Compression Stockings on, how the heck are you supposed to take them off????

Dad had to use those after knee replacement surgery for the swelling. They stayed on. He put them on himself. Are there different medical grades?

I had to wear them for a while after knee surgery. The best way I found to get them on was to wear a pair of surgical gloves. They give you enough grip to pull them up.

The ones I had to use after knee and hip surgeries had open toes. My wife would slip a plastic shopping bag (like you get at Wmart) over my foot and slip the stocking over that. The plastic bag made the stocking slide right on. When the stocking was completely on, she would remove the plastic bag from the open toe. Hope this may help.

I used to wear them standing for ten hours welding they helped a lot. Got mine at sprawlmart. They had two types beige ones and black ones. the black ones are not as tight and do not hold up as well. I just put them on like hose roll them up and then unroll them.

I found that " core spun" sox are easier to put on and take off. You can get most in different compression strength. I get them on EBay. Also cheaper than a lot of them.
