WD 45 crank pulley

How to get the crank pulley off. I am not a mechanical I got tractor for a hobby. I'm having a tough time getting the pulley off. It's not even moving

Remove the setscrew and find a very large pulley puller. All the ones I've done have been so oil soaked from leaking front seals that a couple of big pry bars will pop it off.

After you have the set screw removed look in the hole it came out of, there could be another set screw in there. That was often done to lock it in.

You have given me hope I do have a question though. You said seals and in more than one. Is there another seal I am not aware of?? I am going to try and use two pry bars and pull it off as soon as I get off work today. Wish me luck Also Im suppose to pull off the timimg cover What is that? And where is it??

Jacelamb,Oh,I forgot to tell you, that you can probably rent a puller at Auto Zone or other parts places that rent out special tools.

Don't want to bother you but which kind of pulley?? I was going to to rent or buy one But there so many kinds. I was looking at the crank shaft cover and there are not any holes to use a typical pulley, so I'm not sure which one to get. PLEASE HELP

A big 3 jaw. As for seals plural, I guess the crank seal was what I was referring to, but I've seen oil from about every front half of the engine seal run that far down. Not following your problem with the crankshaft "cover". Engine has to come out to get the pulley off. I don't think there is room enough for it to slide off with the engine in.

I was reading how to replace the crank shaft seal and it said to remove radiator, pull of the crank shaft and cover. I have never replaced one so I don't know where it is so Im hoping its inside the crank shaft that I am having trouble pulling off. Now you have scared me in the sense their could be an internal oil leak. I hope not, I do not have the skills to pull a motor Lets just hope for the best right now. Any advice on any aspect of the WD 45 would greatly be appreciated Im a very novice person. I can send pictures if that will help my cause.

I'm not sure the crank pulley can come off without removing the engine. The front cover is also the front engine support, so you would need to support the engine. To make matters worse for you, the oil pan gasket also wraps around the bottom of the front cover. The best option would be to try to get the front pulley off and just replace the front crank seal. No internal leaks. All it could be is the front crank seal, front pan gasket, front cover gasket, or head gasket. What makes you think it's the crank seal?

I'm just guessing but I believe it's the front crank seal pulley thing. I this not the same thing?? It's leaking behind the part where the belt turns the pulley the manual crank pushes in and cranks the engine to start the he tractor I can send a picture if you would like. That is the part I'm trying to get off. I am hoping the seal is right there (somewhere). And it's is bad
