Splitting Stands

HoboNC posted pics of his rear section support a few years ago. It is a trailer jack that bolts to the side of the rear housing through a bracket.

I made one pretty easy. Welded a T out of I beams put caster wheels under the 3 ends. Welded angle iron to all thread that I drop into pipe made jackstands. Prop up the back half and roll front forward. Trying to figure out how to load pictures

for years I always wanted a universal splitting stand but couldn't justify the cost for one as most of them are only owned by dealerships and sold when they go out of business and generally are expensive at auction . I once used a over head gantry with a chain fall to split tractors , I now use a truck transmission jack similar to this . their overall use fullness in the shop are some what greater than having just a splitting stand.

(quoted from post at 18:47:45 05/09/16) Anyone got any homemade splitting stands that theve made? Specifically for farmalls.. Tanner

I built a set from scratch for use on Ms and Hs. I've got pictures somewhere. Might've uploaded them to this site. Don't remember for sure.

I use 2 X 10s for H/300 size on down. I mark 2 or 3 places where they will bolt up to the rails, drill them to bolt to the frame rails or flat mount places on the smaller ones, and use front tire pressure to regulate the height. It works really well and the 2X's store well. gm

I'm cheap, I blocked the rear up and used an 8' section of staging on wheels to sling the front using a chain falls. Then I just roll the front forward to work on the clutch.

Mount a couple of Bulldog jacks on an I/H beam. Mount wheels under the beam. Beam provides extra stability. Weld the jack mounting ring to a steel plate, bolted to the tractor.

On my Farmalls I made a stiff leg I bolt to just one side of the tractor behind the bell housing... I jack the front end up to were it just takes the weight off of it and bolt the stiff leg on... I then can remove the front end then the engine. The rest is sitting there ready to mount the engine and front end back up...

What are you planing to do...

I made one years ago using screw jacks from a New Idea Uni system. 2x3 box steel crossmember 4 feet long with pipe that slips over the jacks welded vertical on each end. 2 sets of holes in the pipe and jacks to pin them at different heights. 2x3 verticals with steel plates at top edge to bolt to frames. Straps on bottom of verticals to clamp to cross bar at any width. I then roll the rear end away with a long frame floor jack. It is overkill for smaller tractors but will handle any large row crop tractor safely. Sorry I don't have any pics of it.

I just googled "splitting stands tractor" and got a LOT of images. Several good ideas there. Also was 2 on e bay. joe
