brush cutter

Brand is a good one, neighbors small engine/power equipment shop has carried this brand for many years, I've had several trimmers, one a commercial type with the handle bars and harness. Their models that take attachments are not universal, say like a Stihl kombi.

Lloyd---Last year I bought the exact brush cutter that you

referred to. It is an excellent machine. I had a lot of brush
to cut along the creek area, and it did a fine job. The dealer
said that I need to use Premium gasoline in it, which ran about
$4.00/gallon. But you get a lot of work done for that gallon of
gas. Machine was some over $400.00, but no other machine can do
the work as easily as that cutter.

I like the stihl brands.one thing I'm beginning to like is something with a compression release . It seems the older I get the harder it is to pull the rope it's a nice feature.

I have had and used an Echo straight shaft brushcutter at my farm for almost twenty five years . It has had a cutting blade fitted for most of that time as I use it to deal with blackberry and dogwood ; both have hard woody stems the nylon string head won't touch .
It hasn't missed a beat in all that time , the work it has done is extraordinary and it is simple to maintain . I regularly grease the small gearbox at the end of the shaft , but other than plug and fuel filter maintenance there is nothing much else to do .

Thanks for all your kind replies. I know there are lots of folks that prefer one brand over the next & with care more than one would give good service. I have about 10 acres of clear cut to try to maintain & let grow back into a wood lot. I am trying to keep the brush from crowding out the saplings.....

My Echo has been a good one,the primer bulb broke after four years, easy and cheep fix.

(quoted from post at 06:16:15 05/07/16) Looking for a hand held brush cutter (blade type). Looking at ECHO brand any info helpful.

Thanks Lloyd

On the handheld trimmer, I have no advice. I used to have one, but won't anymore. I use a DR Trimmer now. I have heard nothing bad about echo and would consider the brand myself if I needed a cheap saw etc.

Just a suggestion for the blade. I like a "Beaver Blade". Internet search for it, different sizes, some for handheld trimmers. Disk with regular, replaceable chainsaw chain. This is the one I have.
