Victor acetylene torch set with rosebud, 3 tips, cutting head with regulators for $55. Not sure it's ever been used.

3/4" drive Proto ratchet and breaker bar with sockets. Snap on 1/4" drive and 3/8" drive ratchets, 1/2" drive proto ratchet and 2 1/2" breaker bars with a bunch of assorted Mac and Proto sockets all for $35

Nice. I can only do yard sales etc down here. Do pick up some items once in awhile. Years ago, I was at a farm sale in Nebraska and there was a beat up cantilever tool box on the hayrack. The auctioneer didn't pick it up just threw ina couple other things hoping to make it sell. I don't know why but I bid on it and stirred a little action but got it for $7.00. This was in the mid 70's when that was a good bit of money for me.

Short story is the box was so heavy I had a time getting it away from the hayrack. It was full of 1/2 and 3/4 drive sockets. Not chinese, Proto. Still have them. Course there wasn't a 3/4 drive handle so I had to buy one that cost me about twice what the box did.

You did very well. I usually don't bother with auction tools cause many times its cheaper to buy new.

I have picked up some real buys at auctions and also been burnt. The key is do you really need it and it of course takes a whole day.

Normally I avoid tools at sales too, I have most of what I need already and don't need a bunch of mis-matched wrenches and sockets. Had to borrow a 3/4" breaker bar a few weeks back from a neighbor and saw this set in the bottom part of a toolbox.

It was raining on and off all day and was coming up on 2:00 and started going through a shed with no lights. No one was paying attention when auctioneer said choice off shelf. Bid up $35 and snatched that toolbox up and put it in the truck before anyone could get mad. Same deal with the torch set but had to go to $55 for that and an index box full of new drill bits and taps. Probably a couple hundred dollars worth of drills and taps and I can never have too many of those.
