2 cycle oil

I have a echo weedeater and it takes 40-1. Wife bought briggs & Stratton 2 cycle oil that is 50-1. Can I use this oil? IF I use less gas maybe 0.8 tenths of a gal

I use to have that trouble years ago with different makes of 2 cycle engines with different mixtures. I eliminated that problem by going to Opti-2 and one mix covers all 2cycle engines. Now I have one gas can for all 2cycle engines.

you can use either one in the other; it doesn't make any difference to the machines. Been running 40:1 in everything for 40 years. Some of the saws are even 40 yrs. old.

Hello davyfireball,

A 50 to 1 oil will work at 40 to 1. Just use the 40 to 1 ratio. A 40 to 1 oil can not be diluted any further, will work at a lower ratio just like the 50 to 1 oil,

Guido.
