wheel gear puller

If they are a name brand like PosiLoc or Snap On you can likely get parts to replace what is broken. If they are off brand like Pittsburg Forge (Harbor Freights house brand) send them back to china and buy new.

I have bought parts for PosiLoc and Snap On and usually it was about half of new.

Uh oh you didn't run them in with an impact wrench did you ? If so don't do it again as that will do them in ! I was able to save one with a tap and die but it won't work for really heavy jobs anymore without binding up again.

If the threads on the bolt are still good, you could weld a nut to the puller to replace the damaged threads.

None of the pullers I have used standard treads so on many that would not work since you can not get nuts with the correct treads. Just for you info by the way

Is the negative comment based on experience or ignorance? I've had really good service out of HF tools, once I got past the stigma of buying from them. A lot different than the China brand tools you find at farm stores.

Sent my posi lock off to be rebuilt the shop paid so I don't know what it cost I do know I paid 175 for the puller I don't have the puller Anymore traded it for a bill I owed a guy . Now if it's a cheap puller probly cheaper to buy new as the the 3 jaw pullers are pretty cheap

Harbour freight is great as far as hand tools
anything else that doesn't fall under the lifetime
warranty umbrella is junk they cannot or will not
supply parts or service if it's out of the 90 day
warranty been emailing back and forth to them
about a part for a pipe bender they cannot and will
not get parts for it I told em exactly what they could
do with there junk

Experience!!

Never had much luck collecting on any warranty with HF. Usually spend a hour on the phone getting through etc, just not worth it.

I do have some tools bought through HF that I still use. One is a Pittsburg 10 ton floor jack. Leaks a bit now but has been on the job for 20 years, course not used a whole lot but still does what is needed. I have bought some name brand stuff from them and been happy there also.

Hand tools and things like gear pullers and electric tools have been a waste of $$ in my experience.

Sorry for the double reply but I meant for this to be in response to Andy Martin.

Most pullers are acme thread, you can get several different acme threaded rods and nuts from McMaster Carr, should be able to save a puller with new nut welded to puller and new shaft. May not be worth it, all depends on cost of puller.

I feel your pain I've had good look getting hand tools warranty they just hand me a new one but anything not lifetime warranty they won't touch

I also bought a jack like that in 1984. It has raised a lot of truck axles and has been used to spilt a lot of tractors. I've had to top, off the oil a few times but the only other problem has been a broken return spring. It gets used much more than either of the 10 ton Walker floor jacks that I have.
