Cordless Impact Wrenchs?

I've got a 19.2 volt ni-cad Craftsman, and its not bad for small things, been a pretty good wrench. But it lacks a lot power. Example would be I used it last year to install(had to break them loose with a breaker bar last year) the blades on my disc mower. Tried yesterday to remove the old ones, and it just wouldn't do it(back to the breaker bar). I've been looking at the Milwaukee M18 2763 kit, spec's look good on it, but it's over $400. Is it worth it? Any others I should be looking at? Appreciate any opinions..

I bought a DeWalt impact and I can peel rusted wheel bolts off without breaker bar. It was the most I ever paid for a cordless tool and it came with battery and charger. I am very pleased with it. I won't say there's nothing it won't peel off, but around my shop and for changing wheels its the best

I just bought one and love it. It took all the bolts out of the rear wheels on a 930 case that had been sitting for years without any problems, all 3/4" bolts and the rim clamp bolts were very rusty. Be careful touching the socket after hard use because it will be hot!

Craftsman Ni-Cad C3 batteries will get weak after a few years for me. Lithium-ion batteries have lasted much better for me. It's often less expensive to buy a tool bundle than to just buy new batteries.

From my experience, craftsman cordless impact wrenches are kinda like, junk. I use pneumatic for the most part but I would say the Milwaukee is worth it.

I don't expect my battery impact to preform like my 2135 Ingersoll Rand air guns but I have an 18V Dewalt and it works great for my usage which is basically out in the field or on the road emergencies. I have no experience with the Milwaukee 18V impact but they get good reviews.

Casey, is the Dewalt the 3/8 or the 1/2? 18 or 20 volt? SWMBO bought me a kit and it came with a 18 volt 3/8's drive. It won't take the bolts off the blades on the disc mower so it only gets used on small bolts.

I have had a Milwaukee M18 1/2" (not a Fuel) for several years and like it. My son has a 20 volt IR 1/2" one that you have to be careful not to twist off bolts when you use it. I like it for dis-assembly but not for putting anything together. I also have an M18 3/8" fuel one that I really like. It has 3 power settings which makes it nice for hood bolts, pan bolts etc. If I were to buy another one today it would be an M18 1/2" fuel one.

I've got an old style Milwaukee 1/2 18v. With a good battery, it is consistantly right around 350 ft-lb. The fuel version should be quite a bit better. I have had to send mine in a couple times for service, but I was working at a dealership at the time, it got used everyday - hard. Installed lots of tires on new equipment coming in among other things. Also the warranty service never cost me anything, freight paid by Milwaukee both ways.

the snap on is a gutsy one, lot of the tow truck carry them for tire service. they are spendy tho.

My dewalt half inch impact is specked at 500 lb ft but you need a healthy battery otherwise forget.

Corded impacts are specked less.

Guess you can say impact is a good load tester. Some say their old batteries still work. Impact will tell you just how well they work.

I bought the dewalt 20v xp last year. Since then I have yet to need the compressor and air impact. Bought on eBay for $385. Well worth it not to have to drag hose around. Come to southern KY and you can try it out. Nathan

I have several Snapon impacts and they're pretty good and handy but not as powerful as my CP air impact. My 3/4 drive electric impact I can hardly pick up beats them all BTW.

I have a DeWalt 18 volt 1/2 in. impact that I used to install hub mount duals on the tractor. After watching one of the duals roll down hill past the tractor. Now any wheel I install with the cordless impact, I always check with a hand wrench.

I have both the 1/2" Milwaukee and a 3/8" fuel by Milwaukee. Great power on the 1/2",I got mine for $299 on sale. It has done almost everything I want. A few tough bolts wouldn't come loose. Just got the 3/8" back last week, it went bad sitting in garage over the winter. They covered it on warrenty. I am happy with both. A friend has a Dewalt 18 that he said works good too.

I found ten crapsman impact has good power but it really likes its batteries. The big 18 volt dewalt is better.

I'm going to upgrade to the 18v Milwaukee. Saw a guy drop one in muddy water, pulled it out and finished the job with it, didn't even shake the water out.

I did not want to spent the money for a Milwaukee, every time I seen one in use I would ask them how they liked it. I got raving reviews so I sucked it up and spent my money on a Milwaukee

It was money well spent the only issue I have had is I have had to glue the base on one of the bats it was rattling apart.

Hobo,NC,

There is only one problem with cordless tools. Sooner or later, many times sooner, the
battery dies. So 18 years ago I decided to try 18v dewalt drill, 3 speed with hammer.
I was hooked and built all my tools around the 18v dewalt battery. Still using the
drill. My tools have held up, batteries haven't.

Many times on YT you hear of guys who can't find a replacement battery for their
tools. I think the dewalt tools are popular and I hope they never stop making
replacement batteries. I don't like making my own battery by soldering cells together,
but I would do it if I had too.

Just my $0.02. I only want to have to stock one battery and charger. I buy bare tools
too, no battery or charger. I don't think there is a dewalt cordless tool I don't
have. If there were, my kids love to buy it for my birthday, father's day or
Christmas.

My cordless tools are limited to just a few as long as I can afford to pay the power bill I prefer Air tools.. Air hoses hang from the sky around here

I broke down and got the M18 1/2" fuel, fantastic impact. Runs like a 3/4" air impact. My 1/2" isn't half as strong. Also nice not to listen to compressor wailing away all the time.

I will add I have a rigid 1/2" 18v cordless impact 300 ft. lbs. for $120 but no batt. or charger for that price. good impact for the money. I already had the rigid cordless drills etc. so it worked good for me.I will say I have used the m18 fuel and they are excellent on power 700 ft.lbs. for the 1/2" I believe.

Milwaukee 2763-2x is the best impact on the market. It will outdo the Snap On CT8850 for less money. You will be vary happy with it, even for the money.
