Hello everyone. I purchased a white 260 serial numbe 483372. I've had it for a few days and noticed a lever about a foot long or longer laying on left side of tractor between gear shifter and clutch pedal. Looks like you pull it up towards you to engage it. Whatever it is it doesn't matter if it's up or down it does nothing to change operation of tractor. 8 speed trans. Power steering. Canopy Spinout wheels. Only hiccup on tractor is a noticeable sound coming from inside trans or rears. Kinda like it's got some slop in the drive train. Any nice comments would be welcomed . Planning on tear down over winter it holds out that long.

Check and see if you have an electric switch on the dash for your PTO. If you do this lever is a feathering lever when you use the PTO. Your PTO will not work unless that lever is in the up position and the switch is on. That is what I have on my smaller White. Only place I ever used it to feather a load was on my brushhog

That's the clutch lever for the PTO,once the PTO lever is engaged the lever you are referring to is down to engage the PTO and up to disengage the PTO and to shift the PTO in and out of gear.
VERY IMPORTANT DO NOT EVER run the tractor with that lever in the up position its only to shift the PTO lever and then drop back down again.Running that lever in the up position
will wear out the thrust washers in the engine and then it'll cause the crank to wear against the block ruining both.
Your tractor is basically the same tractor as the Oliver 1365 and very similar Long Models 560 and 550.Also similar to the Fiat 640 and the 2-60 is a Fiat built tractor BTW.
