How Many Cylinders,

Hello,

I just repaired my neighbor's battery stud on his alternator. Here is the picture of the coil pack. How many cylinders does this engine have?

Ford 2.3 in a Ranger. A couple of the intake side plugs are a hugger to get to. Stinks that most of those are dead. Cut my mechanic teeth on 2.3s. Headgaskets, timing belts, clutches, good times. Wish they still built them like they used to. The modern Hemi has 2 plugs per cylinder also.

Yep, they have "intake" and "exhaust" spark plugs. Didn't Tyvoda do the same thing, at some point?

Must have been something wrong with your Nissan then cause my dad had an 83 that he hauled and towed with and it got 30 mpg! It was a great truck!

The Nissan Nap-z was a good engine.
The Ford is a descendant of the respectable German-built 2.0 Pinto engine, over-modified for smog and made a bit larger.

Hello,

It is a 4 cylinder Fords ranger engine. I think it is a 2.5 lt. It has had some care since he bought it used, with my help. With 97000 miles on the plugs I think it is time to replace them. I did not look at the speedo while I had it in the garage, but I'm guessing at 150.000 to 175.000 miles, I don't know what model year it is. 1989 was the first year for Ford's coil pack as I recall. Same engine was offered in the 91 Mustang,

Guido.
