Fuel tank leak

I have a 1990 Ford Super Duty. 7.3 non turbo
The front fuel tank is leaking under one of the mounting straps.
What do I use to patch it?
Thanks for the help. Al

Depending on the size of the leak you can use something like that fuel tank linging. I did that on an 86 ford diesel and still holding 15-20years later.

Best way is to pull it and solder it. I was soldering one once adding a big copper plate to the tank and in the solder melt two pennies fell out . I wasn't the first guy to solder that tank.

Chances are a good perimeter of where the tank sits on those bands will be rotten or real thin. You would just need to decide if its worth attempting a fix or not.

Keep in mind you can get a brand new replacement tank for around $100 or less, just shop around the interwebs.

I would call the family in, give the tank its rites and replace it with a new tank and move on with life...

I have seen quite a few Ford 80's/90's tanks rust out from the top  I replaced 7 tanks last year (Ford & chebby) all in the 90's range they just don't make them to last like they use to are its the fuel. Either way a in-tank electric pump can not handle rust like a mechanical pump can. If there is any rust in the tank and that includes looking at the underside of the top of the tank its history...

Get a new one we did our 93 f250 a few years ago and if I remember right Napa got the tank and it was reasonable price not worth the hassle of repair

JB weld and multiple layers of fiberglas mesh. It leaks cuz dirt gets by the mounting band, and rusts thru. Lasted me for years.

I have several cases that have been lettered TOP in big letters. And guess who still gets it wrong sometimes. . . usually when I'm in a hurry, too.
