Do you use coupons at Harbor Freight?

A lot of the HF prices are higher than the same item at Lowes or HD; I guess they figure that everyone will use a 20% off coupon and that will make them competitive. Just wondering how many people actually use those 20% off coupons?

I had a couple coupons this morning that I wasn't going to use , so offered them to a young couple. He didn't seem too interested, but his wife jumped on those like a weasel after a chicken! I think he probably hadn't told her that HF has coupons.

I collect those 20% coupons and never go there without one. I also usually have a pile of those 'free with any purchase' coupons like for a tape measure, screwdriver set, flashlight or multimeter. The thing is I have enough of those "freebees" so I found another use for them. When I get on line at the checkout I tap the person in front of me on the shoulder and ask if they would like a 'free' coupon. They usually jump at it and are gone to somewhere in the store. Easy way to work my way to the front of the line.

Their prices are all over the place and I never buy anything unless it's on sale or have a coupon. I generally hate stores that do things like that but HF has unique items I can't get everywhere so I get suckered. Kohls is one store that comes to mind the wife gets great deals there but you have to know their system to get good prices. Come to think of it Duluth Trading is another one I won't buy from without a coupon but I do like their clothes.

If you look through there flyer you will find they will have the same tool at to different prices one with a coupon price and then somewhere else in the same flyer still on sale but not as cheap as with a coupon ; I've also noticed lately they're trying to compare there tools prices to real tool prices

always use a them, usually get a 20% off coupon in the monthly email that we use on top of the regular coupon.

I have done that too! Made a lot of friends in HF! This winter we got some tools and my wife had the add on her smart phone, the clerk just scans the phone, worked good.

I bought something at HF once and the clerk asked me if I had a coupon. I didn't. She picked one up from beside the cash register and scanned it so it just cost me the coupon price.

Oh yea, I have a coupon keeper in my work truck with nothing but HF coupons. I couldn't begin to guess how many free flashlights, tape measures and multimeters I have.

With a Red Tag sale,20% off, and a free flash light-screwdriver-volt meter-tape measure, you can get a very good deal.

Never go there without them.

Got gobs of the free stuff, more of it than I need, but why not if you're going there anyway?

Always, both the 20% off and the free ones. And The tools and things I buy would be way higher at Lowes or HD And that was same when my wife was still living with her employe discount at Lowes.

At Christmas time, we put a selection of the freebies in bags and gave them to the neighbors as gifts. I doubt any of them ever had a 25ft tape measure before in their life. We have those small flashlights in the vehicles and several places in the house; they are very handy.

Only thing about the HF coupons is there not usable for the bigger items I really want, like air compressors.... and other big ticket items. :(

Yes; we finally have enough tape measures and flashlights here and there that we can actually find one when we need it!

About 5 years ago I was able to buy one of their big 5 HP dual stage compressors with a 20% coupon just before they disallowed that use.

The 25' tape measures are pretty darned good. I have one in every room of my house (we move hanging pics around a lot and always need to know the size of something), next to every major tool in my shop, and 14 (as of yesterday) hanging on a long pegboard hook.

6 years ago they would work with the big stuff. I bought one of the ball bearing drawer,40" top and bottom tool chests. It was 20% off the whole thing. Not long after, no more coupons on things in the flyer that also were on a coupon; which the big tool boxes were always couponed. So no discount.

Last week I was wanting the 1000 gram digital scale. Couldn't find them on the shelf, so I asked the cashier. She went into the inventory program, told her which shelf and where on the shelf it should be. Nothing there. Computer said 5 in stock. Called up the backroom and they had nothing either. I figure the druggys were stealing them to weigh out the dope. And being criminals, steal a scale instead of paying for it....scum.

It kinda gets to be a rinky dink game. Nearest HF store is 100 miles away, haven't gone in 2 years now. With only getting there once a year or two, you have to pick your battles on what is in stock or not, which coupons work or not, and so on.
