Oddest thing you did with your Leatherman

Hey folks,

Just wondering what wild and crazy things you have used your Leatherman for.

I have used mine for: Pruning apple trees, Underwater changing a prop on my boat, Pulling wire through conduit, and during an EMS extraction.

Any other novel uses?

I have heard about a spring beaver hunt up north where I am from, supposedly a group of young jackpine savages have a contest, they have to kill a beaver with a Leatherman. The destructive rodent type!

Maybe not odd but certainly not safe. Has a sewer pump contactor coil fail with the pit only an inch or two from overflowing (and you know how the DNR enjoys investigating those) so I shut the power off at the safety switch, jammed my Leatherman in the contactor so the contacts were closed, and turned it back on. So now the pump is running but the Leathermans stick out too far to shut the cover, so I had to bungee strap it open so the wind didn't blow it shut and ground against them. I sat there for an hour or so to let the pump catch up, as it was right next to the road and didn't want someone to come along and try to take the pliers and get electrocuted. Pliers unharmed and I still use them today.

Not a Leatherman but I did cut a windshield out of a van with my pocket knife. The van was down an enbambment on its side at the creek. I am with the vol fire dept and got to the scene before a truck with the proper tools got there. It ruined the blade. But we got the lady out and to safety. I now have a new Benchmade knife and I love it.

A friend and I were awfully glad to have ours along on an ATV ride a few years back. We took a trail that was supposed to lead to a certain lake, but after nearly running out of gas without finding the lake we retraced our route only to find that the gate at the start of the trail, which was open when we went through, had been closed and locked. Managed, with the aid of our Leathermans, to remove the bolts holding it together, and were able to get to a gas station (which was still several miles over back trails from where the gate was) with our reserve tanks nearly dry.

Used mine to retie some sutures that were coming apart, while standing in the middle of a hay field! (I won't go into where those stiches were...)

I used mine once and tossed it in the tool chest; haven't even thought about using it since.

My grandson has a Gerber, Uses it all the time all the joints on it are loose. He's had it for years. Only lost the first one. Mine rides around in the cup holder in the truck.

Pulled a tooth?

Leatherman is a constant companion. Use it every day for something. Some jobs it's better than tools in my toolbox. Plus it's always in my pocket - not back in the shop.

Mine is a Gerber. Dropped my goldwing by setting the kickstand fast to run help a guy under his bike. A guy in town had a front brake lever that was nearly 1/4 inch too thick to go into my mount, so I spent a couple of hours filing it down.

I have a pile of leatherman waves probably 8-10 that I need to send back because I broke them. I used the saw once to build almost 100' of double handrail in a building at work because the skil saw quit. But probably the strangest was used the scissors to trim stitches from my soon to be wife's wisdom teeth probably the second or third time we were ever around each other. Guess it was true love. The only time I can stand to be without mine is when I'm sleeping. Broke the last pair turning a somewhat frozen hub lock on the front axle of my truck. I'm really hoping when I go she buries me with a pair hanging on my belt

used my Surge a few weeks ago to disassemble a toilet paper dispenser that jammed and would not dispense it's precious commodity!
I have vowed to never be without one after this!
