I got my first pair about 30 years ago. The problem was I didn't go to GOOD specialist to get my ears checked out. They did work but I always thought there was something else wrong. About 15 years ago I went to a very good specialists. Didn't need hearing aids although I flunked the hearing tests. He put tubes in my ears which I had done when I was in the service 50 years ago. My hearing isn't perfect as I do have a pair from the va system that I do wear when I am around several people but watching tv I do pretty well. Beltone gave me a hearing test 30 years ago. said I needed hearing aids. a lot has happened in the industry over the years so my suggestion is go to a hearing specialist doctor so they can determine if your ears are damaged enough or theres something else he can do to help you hear better. They are expensive so check with your insurance company as some will pay for one or both of them. How your doctor writes up the report will make a difference. Hope you get along well as hearing problems suck anyway you put it but as we get older its sort of a way of life we don't like.
