Old Miller Welder

I have had this welder for over 40 years and it was old when I got it. Still works good, but the insurance guy asked if I knew how old it was. Anyone have a guess? I can't find any dates on it.

I have been around welding equipment for near 50 years and I have never seen one like it. It has to be at least 50 years, old I'd say.I have welded with old Hobarts and Lincolns that were made before WW II ,but not a Miller,
 
I have been welding for more than 50 years as well and this is a first for me.

Does it have a model# or anything else that we might be able to search for.

You might send a picture to Miller, I bet that would get you some interest and answers.

My dad had an old miller welder that was old in the 60's and it was much more modern looking than that. I'm guessing 30's or 40's. I'll ask on the welding forum for you tho.
 
So far I've been able to determine that it is pre-1954. But miller has very little info prior to that. Maybe someone will get back to me who has one.
 
I've seen one just like it. It was in the corner of a shed where I used to live. Never tried it, the leads were pretty rough, and I had something better anyway. No idea how old it is.
 
Miller hand built his welders and peddled them from his trunk. When he sold them all he went home and built more.(I do not even know where I read that)
 
Was the insurance guy asking because of value or fire hazard?

Value = it's the first Miller produced
Fire hazard = You just bought it the day before
