dont know brand ,cant find any tag ...took cover off pto and shaft came out ,the bevel gear , is ground up .is there a place to buy bevel gears.......thanks yall.....dewy

You will be money and time ahead by buying a replacement gearbox if you can find one.

You can buy generic bevel gears, Martin Sprocket has a good selection.

But... The beating those gears take, real good chance they wouldn't hold up, even with hardened teeth. I would feel more comfortable going back with factory gears, (only if everything else were in rebuildable condition, as in no spun bearings, damaged housing, etc.) or finding a replacement gear box.

Since you don't know the brand, take some measurements, go look at some new ones or some that can be identified, order a gear box that is close enough to make work.

If you can post a picture, someone might identify it.

Buy a new gearbox, setting the backlash and the bearing clearance in a gearbox is not for amateurs!

Look for BRUSH hog when searching for parts. Bush hog is a brand for a specific company.

Try a company called Agri - Supply. I just bought a new gear box (Grizzley Brand) and it works just fine and it had a good price.

It might be a Maschio mower, Italian made and good quality, of course you can tear up about anything, even the good stuff. I have a Maschio Jolly finish mower and have had good luck with it.
