3 inch Auger Question

Looking for a 3 inch auger to use for a bagging attachment on a Clipper fanning mill. I've run some ads but not found anything that small. What manufacturers make a 3 inch auger?

I've checked Westfield, Jet Flow, and Farm King and they make 4 inch as the smallest diameter.

GOOGLE "3" auger flighting".

MANY sources.

Then, all you need is a tube (maybe even plastic), and a drive!

Hance was very popular locally and they made a nice little galvanized steel twin bucket leg/bagger unit for seed cleaners. I have seen several sell for pretty cheap money but I already have one so didnt bid.

Check with Chore-Boy...they made small flex augers for feeding systems. Check actual auger diameter before you get a tube.

You may not want to hear this but I would buy what you can get and carefully cut it down. Make a little spacer block with a little concave on the back. Walk it around the spiral of the auger and use a magic marker to trace it out. I cut stuff like that with a Dremmil tool. Takes time but it works great.

Thanks. I figure that I'll need to cut anything that I find down as far as length. I'd like to be able to use a 3 inch diameter auger as opposed to 4 inch.

If you have a clipper larger than a 2b I have the setup you need. I have a 4 inch auger, adapter to the bottom fan housing and dual head to hold 2 sacks off of a model 27. If you have a 2a or 2b I have made those in the form of a belt elevator using hay roller belting. Nathan

If you can't find the size that you need "ready-made" ; if you are half-way proficient with a Cutting Torch or Plasma Cutter and an Arc Welder they are not that hard to build. Ive done it several times - feed augers for crushed ore in Mining & Milling operations.

I have a clipper M2B fanning mill that I cut a ten foot long four inch diameter auger I cut down to make a bagger with spots for two sacks with a diverter and a boot for the bottom end. I ordered the drive for A T Ferrel Co., works just fine Pete

With the old 32 clipper we have 40 or so years ago dad made a 4 inch auger work with an old combine elevator off from an old MM combine. That then lifted the seed to a spout that went to a diverter for bagging. We used to use it for bagging clover seed and other seeds like that as it was milled.
I would like to get the auger so it would dump into the elevator leg going to the over head bins for cleaning seed wheat and cleaning the weed seed out of beans when cutting them. Saves a lot of dockage some times.
