Hello

I used the new tool to cut the trim rather then remove it. Someone had stated that it would be loud, well you are right! Ear plugs were needed, and the tool work well. Tiles made in the USA. I learned two things while doing this project: One is that grout works great around the base of the toilet. Two that a shim between the water tank and the wall is an insurance against toilet movement, and a possible leak,

looks good!!! i dont know about the grout around the base of the commode. it would hide a leak from the wax seal and cause the floor to rot out (if wood). i had one plumber tell me never to caulk and seal the base of the toilet, another told me you needed too as it was a sanitary seal. got me, i arent a plumber. but boy can i rod a clogged drain!!! thats just some good clean fun.

Guido , depending on the size of the ' Backside ' using the toilet tile grout is likely to crumble . To bed them in if the floor is uneven then structural grout used for column bases is good . Otherwise if your tiles are level plain old silicon works well , stops the odd spill seeping underneath and works as a strong adhesive . The pan can still be removed by twisting it if you absolutely have to .

Hello Charles in Aus,

I lined the flange with exterior grade plywood, then tiled around the
same. Toilet base was shimmed, it did not really needed. Grout is
cosmetic. Toilet never was tight. A shim from the wall to the tank
will insure movement between the tank and the base,

Hello glennster,

It was seeping for awhile. I repaired it with plywood around the flange, with the tile standard seal worked just fine. Bad installation lasted 12 years, I hope this time will last a bit longer,

Hello,

The last finishing touch! A piece of old flooring recycled. A 34" piece was given to me, so I cut it down to size. It was 3/4 in. thick solid oak,
