Cutting pipe

I had a large amount of pipe to cut, all under three inches. Some were cut at angles and I used a Porter Cable Portable Band Saw.
I bought a used one about two years ago and don't know why I didn't buy one sooner? ?
I used one at work on many jobs but thought they were too expensive to justify.--I was wrong!
I keep mine just under the workbench and grab it for virtually all hacksawing.

i have a milwaukee port-a-band, its really handy. i would like to get the stand for it so its like a table band saw, but boy is it spendy.

We have a couple at work. Great tool, no question. Some thing to look out for on them. Where the blade goes through the opening, take a look at the little guide roller bearings. Make sure they are mounted nice and tight. If one works loose it will make the band walk all over the place!

My Portaband used to get a lot of use,
nowadays tho the Makita 14 inch demo saw is
out for most metal projects.

I bought a nice Milwaukee portable band, deep cut, in a nice metal carriering case. Then I had an opportunity to get a tilt floor metal band new for $200. The Milwaukke seldom gets used.

As a Pipefitter, I sure used one a lot, along with a cutting torch. See if you can find yourself a Wrap-Around to help
you make a mark to cut the pipe. We always used soapstone.

I have a Milwaukee PortaBand, and I use it nearly every day. I consider it to be the handiest tool that I own.
