Roller pump rip off !

I thought I needed a new roller pump for my PTO powered weed sprayer unit . The original one was made in 1965 and has leaking seals and rough bearings. So I looked into the merits of replacing versus rebuilding.

This Hypro is available in the USA ,

USA price , around $100 but unfortunately the company doesn't ship to Australia. I made a phone enquiry , the Australian price is almost $600 plus GST of 10% ! [ our version of sales tax ]

This is so typical of the pricing structure of suppliers here , they squeeze every dollar and subsequently the life out of anyone and anything to do with agriculture . To add insult to injury these same thieves are moaning about internet sales ruining their business and taking jobs away from Australians .

Can you get a Delevan pump? Takes the same rollers as a Hypro with a lower price tag.

You can also talk to a {sub shipper} or shipping company. Not sure if that is the correct name but they will purchase your item and ship it to you for a fee. Many years ago I used to know a couple of them. Out of Baltimore.

Maybe this site could purchase and ship
what u need. I am not sure if they ship
the parts they sell on here over seas
or not but worth a try!might be a good
business for them to get into. Sure
alot of people in other countries in
same situation as you!

Thanks for the replies , the Develan pump is a good tip , it appears to be the same as the Hypro and should do well as a substitute . Northern Tool will ship to Australia , as will some Ebay sellers for Hypro . Shipping costs will come to about $120 AUS. in most circumstances so the final landed cost is still half of what it would cost to buy here, I am very grateful for the help .

There are several levels of quality in the Hydro roller line. Your basic is the iron pump for most apps. About $120. Then there is the Silver line, these have better internals and better castings. These were developed for use with Roundup. About 4x the price of the iron pumps. Buy what you need for your situation.
