Motor wiring

I have a Reliance (now Baldor) motor. It's single phase 110/220. All the wires in the box are blue. How can I ID which wire is which? That is which is number 1, 2, 3 etc.

Are there numbers printed on the wires?

Use an ohm meter. The run windings have a much lower resistance than the start winding.

I was just going to ask that. He could take it to a motor shop too. Try using one of those LED pocket flashlights cause they are 6000 kelvin and the light brings out those numbers quite well.

Thanks everyone for your help. Turned out that with a flashlight way back in the box just as the wires entered the motor housing there were markings on the wires. That allowed me to hook it up. Problem solved.
