Hello,

How many of you have a smart TV? I have one and use it to stream off the internet. Lately though it seams that it is slow at times. Any ideas?. Anyone know what size or type of system-computer they use? I'm probably asking to do more then it is designed to do, but am happy to stream free stuff. Plenty of free movies, many just uploaded this year. Time to cut the cable or satellite tie ?>Guido.

We now have 2 smart tvs. Fought with slow internet for several months but now that is fixed. Just starting to try out the tv capabilities now that winter is here and have some free time. I think a bluetooth keyboard or mouse would be helpful but haven't looked into that yet. My understanding is they are Andriod powered similar to smart phones. We dropped satellite when we moved a year ago and don't miss it. We have a digital signal amplifier and get 13 channels off the air on a good day. Happy New Year.

Hello,

I paused the TV and took this picture. Utube free movies,

Guido.

We just got one and we"ve had some trouble that I think has to do with our service provider"s equipment not being able to stream the data during peak use periods. We tried watching some shows on Netflix last night around 7:00 PM MST and the picture would stop every 5 seconds to reload. Tried it again at 9:00 PM and had no problems.

Hello Jerry/MT,

Do you know the speed of your internet? I found that at times mine does that too. I reset the router when that happens, most
of the time it works!

Guido,
No cable in country. Cut satellite. Use computer for netflix and amazon prime which I can send it to two TV's. Rabbit ears for local. Apple TV connected to wifi. Dumped landlines too. Use smart phones.

My internet connection slows down between Christmas and the first school day of the new year. More people are home streaming movies, and playing online games than any other time of the year. Around New Years is the worst. Recheck your speed after January 4, 2016 before making any major changes.

Roku will basically make your existing tv a smart tv. About $60 per tv. I have a smart tv and 3 TV's with Roku. All work the same. Charter for internet provider works great!

Ours used to be slow always buffering until the isp increased the speed on everyone's dsl for free . Now it works fine. Our isp originally told us to hard wire to the modem which we never did and now all is good with our Wi-Fi. We can still tell when there is a college break like now our laptops slow down but the tv is fine.

We have a wireless connection from our service provider that"s rated at 2 Mb download and 1 Mb upload. I question whether they can deliver that 24/7.

The other thing I notice is that when turned on, our new TV takes some time to boot up the Smart features. We have a Roku XD box on another TV and it is much faster.

Be careful! They found through testing that some of the newer tv's literally listen to what's going on in your room. Kinda like having a computer monitor with the built in camera that can be accessed from the "outside". I think those tv's were made by Samsung but I can't remember for sure. The aim of course is supposed to be for marketing but easy to see how the feature could be abused.

Hello Jerry/MT,

A year or two back I called about my service. The answer was: speeds up to 1gb. I said mine was 1/2 the speed then the up to. So I shoud pay 1/2 ? I got connected witb someone that actually spoke inglish as his native tongue.15 minutes later I was up to speed. I can stream now with little delay on start up only,

GUIDO.

Hello Cliff Nelson,

My tv is powered by droid system, it can connect with my droit phone.
I saw an antenna rated at 50 miles, may pick that one up,

GUIDO.

No smart TV, no use for it as we don't have hi speed internet. We do have Hughes Net satellite but at the lowest speed and that is $65 a month for that. So streaming any thing doesn't happen.

Our daughter gave us a "Chromecast" gadget, it provides the "smarts" to a dumb TV so you can connect a phone or computer via USB or bluetooth. Haven't hooked it up yet though. Mostly I think she gave it to us so she can watch TV when she visits.
