Is that jack from Harbor Frt. good and sturdy ? Any user reports ? I find I need one more and more lately .

get a premium jack from harra mfg bloomfield ind the original manufacturer of handyman jack. They make cast jack bodies as well as cheaper steel for farm stores. As well as most things you get what you pay for.

Dalex,

Unsure of what your doing with it, but mine has spent years outside. It still works.

About two years ago, my friend used it on something quite heavy and the pivot pin bore egged out. I re-drilled the bore for a 1/2 inch bolt and seems to work even better.

I got the cheapest one made; yeah, pretty sure I did any spend any extra.

harrah mfg 812 384 4441 Any of you other fellows the company sells repair kit which is new climbing pins, springs. I have taken well worn jacks 50 years old. turned the bar upside down , put new pins and jack is same as new. The preminum jack body (cast iron) can last as I have one bought for my dad in 1950 ere. The cheaper iron frames will bend whenever stressed. The company only started making the iron frames when china started offering cheap knockoffs.

I bought a Handyman jack 60 years ago because we didn't have a good jack on the farm. We sure used that jack a lot - and it's still at the farm, although it doesn't get used much as brother is retired now.

I have, I think, eight of these Handyman/Hi-Lift/ farm-type jacks, both cheap ones and name brands. I like them all, but if I were to spend $50 or so on a cheaper one or maybe $30 more on a name-brand, I'd spend the extra money. A Hi-Lift brand (for example) will last practically forever. Ten years from now you'll never give a second thought to the extra dollars it initially cost, but you'll regret it every time if you get an inferior jack today just to save a few bucks.

I bought one from the company in Bloomfield, In. at least 30 yrs. ago and am still using it. It has been used and abused and still works. I have 5 or 6 of them. A little oil on the mechanism once in a while and they always work.

I looked at the jack at HF when I was in there recently (didn't need one), but from looking at it, I think the Hi-Lift brand is the way to go, just a little more money all things considered.

Bought one from TSC. Had a Reese label on it and it works ok. I haven't ever jacked anything very heavy though. $35 more would have gotten me one of the originals.

I bought a HF hi lift at a yard sale. Got it pretty cheap ($20) It works OK but it has to be spray lubricated every time I go to use it or it will not ratchet. It is stored inside.
