Ihave used it quite often

A plumber mate of mine , now sadly passed away had one . I once asked him what it was , he replied that it was the tool that had made him the most and easiest money over his entire working life . In Australia , the land of the corrugated iron roof , slates are a rarity usually found only in inner city areas with high property values The skills of the old slaters are almost lost so anyone with any capacity to repair slate roofs names their own price .

Larry, please take a few closeups of the end that pulls the nails.
I want to make something like that.

It may be for slate, but it works great for tearing off asphalt shingles too. Just run it up under the shingle, hook the nail, and give it a jerk and the nail usually pops right out. Sometimes you need to hit the raised part of the handle with a hammer. You can clear off an old roof very quickly with one of these.

They're good for removing cedar siding shingles as well. You slide them up over the nail, hook it, then hit the flat part with a heavy
hammer and it'll snap it.

You can get them at home depot. But with the new ones I've found that you have to sharpen the hook area if you want to cut the nail vs. yank
it out sideways.
