Picked up a small ladle today

A friend had this ladle in the corner of his office today when I stopped by to see him about some fabrication work he is doing for the company I work for. He
said it came out of the old machine shop that was once in the building. Gave it to me before I left as he had no use for it and knew that I collected old
tools. I guess if I ever need to pour a really big bearing I have the tool for it. This is the biggest hand held one I have ever seen. Had to be really heavy
if you had it full

These were used mostly in the old days to rebabbit old poured bearings in all kinds of equipment. Most of the ones I have worked with had two handles for the pouring operation. Yours is one for smaller sized equipment. When shell bearings came into being they were not used as much.

Dad had a slightly smaller one in which he melted lead to pour around the joints in cast iron sewer pipe.

Nice piece,,,,,,If you don't have a place for it I will hang it on my RV when I'm at Flywheelers next year AT NO COST TO YOU. Hey you would do it for me !!!
