so I'm looking at chainsaws as I need to get a good one and found out Makita sells them
as I use mostly Makita power tools now (drills saws etc) and have good results for long life I started
to research their saws
turns out that Dolmar makes the Makita saws
I've read on here about Dolmar saws
so now I'm trying to figure out if I should buy one
I've narrowed down my choice too either the Makita in the link or a Jonsered cs2245
the Makita is $150 bucks cheaper so thats a big factor for me
neither of them are cheap here in Canada to buy
what are your thoughts
Makita chainsaw

Don't by what's cheap. Buy one from somebody that services it if needed and has parts without waiting a week to get them. A year ago I was needing a 3/8 electric drill and bought a Makita . It was bad right off the bat. I took it back to dealer and he grabbed a new one and it was bad. He checked several other she had in stock and they where no better. He also sold De Walt and I bought one and no problems with it. The De Walt did cost me more.

I have a Dolmar 6400 and like it. Dealer support is important with either brand. Never ran a Jonsered, but have a Husqvarna as well and like it too. (Jonsered and Husqvarna are now under 1 umbrella.

Blue Water Massey,I can't say about the Makita Model No: EA4300F45C but is is built by Dolmar of Candida. If the quality of the Makita is the same as the Dolmar,it has to be a good saw. What about parts and service locally?

All I know is I bought a new Dolmar 510 1 1/2 years ago. I don't think I have ever bought a better product in my whole life. I LOVE IT!

for no make of chainsaw is serviced local
and I have to order parts and wait
I have a husky 435 now thats been out now 10 days still havn't heard what's wrong yet I figure its the mag as no spark
as it's my only saw I wanted somthing good but want to have a good backup as well
as for tools I NEVER go cheap
all my hand tools are made in north america or else comes with lifetime warranty (read snapon, mac or craftman) or I don't even look at them
power tools are different as most don't have lifetime warrantys
never had any trouble with any makita tool but theres not one dewalt tool I ever owned that ever lasted for me and I've had them all

Ive heard Dolmars are good saws but there's no dealers in Canaa there are Makita dealers and service centers but again not near me

there is a Stil dealer local but he has no service and sends them out as well and I not to impressed with what I've seen of their reliablity either unless you buy their profesional ones

so for me it's going t be either the Makita or the Jonsered
neither one is cheap at over $450.00 for the Makita or $600.oo for the Jonsered

Echo would be in the 350.00 range and Husky's are 400.00
I'm hoping for somthing better than those

you will love the Makita saw. Home depot uses them in their rental dept. If they hold up for that use they will hold up to anything . I have had few in shop for minor things, but overall great saws .

Makita owns Dolmar now. They are fine saws, on par with the better Huskies and Stihls. I have been running Dolmars since the early late 80's/early 90's and I have complete confidence in them. I also owned a Jonsered 2050 which was an older, larger version of the 2245. I can't say I was impressed. Todays smaller Jreds are not the 49SP's of yesterday by any means. Much of the design is out of the consumer level Poulan Pro line, Husquvarna owns both Jred and PP now. I'd be far more inclined to buy the Makita/Dolmar product, especially is it's less expensive.
