Think of all the jobs created just because you can't crush your cans. If you were allowed to crush them it would just be a job for the grandchildren and the scrap man.
 
Looks like one you need to manually eject the can. The homemade one I use, the crushing pieces tip forward when the handle is pushed down. When returned up the clamp opens the can drops, slap the next in. I can hit a few hundred cans in less then a half hour.

If we really want to flatten them toss the can in the arbor press in the shop, a few tugs can is less then 1/4 inch thick..
